    Frequently Asked Questions

    What are the passport requirements?
Your passport must be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Namibia and have at least 2 completely blank pages for Namibian immigration to use. If you are going to travel through Southern Africa, be aware that although South African authorities state they require 1 blank passport page for entry, some officials insist on 2 blank pages. If you plan to take this route, make sure you have a total of 3 blank pages.
Do I need a visa to travel to Namibia?

This depends on the country of origin. Please see Visa Requirements for Namibia to obtain information about your country. We will gladly assist with additional information.

What currency does Namibia & Botswana use?
Namibia uses the Namibian Dollar (N$). This is linked to a one-to-one exchange with the South African Rand (ZAR).

The national currency of Botswana is the Pula, but the US dollar is widely accepted at lodges and hotels throughout the country and quotes will often be in US$.

What language is spoken in Namibia?
English is the official language of the country and most Namibians can also speak Afrikaans and German. Ten indigenous African languages are spoken.
When is the best time to visit Namibia?
Namibia is awesome year-round. The country is usually dry and hot and enjoys 300 sunny days a year. July – September is the high season when prices are high and accommodation availability is more limited. The shoulder months of April/May and October/November are great times of the year when temperatures are mild and tourist numbers are lower.
How close can I get to the wildlife?
Not close! It’s not advisable to get out of your vehicle inside National Parks. Remember that these areas belong to wild animals — don’t put yourself in danger for the sake of a selfie!
Do I need an electrical voltage converter?
You can use your electric appliances in Namibia if the standard voltage in your country is between 220 – 240 V.
What ages are African Wanderer's Tours + Safaris tours designed for?
The answer varies according to the family involved and the destination chosen. As a general rule, we believe that with children under 10 years old, you need to plan carefully, and factors such as travel distances, suitable accommodation and activities are important.

For example, game viewing is a patient exercise, so the ability to sit in a vehicle for two to three hours is a great benefit. Young children will find frequent and extended game drives very boring. Consider a family-friendly lodge with private game-viewing vehicles, so you don’t have to worry about ‘the other guests’.

Do I need vaccinations to enter Namibia?
There are no compulsory vaccinations required for Namibia, however, we recommend you consult with your local travel clinic for the most up-to-date recommendations, particularly in regard to malaria prophylactics. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required if you are coming from or have transited through an airport of a country where yellow fever occurs.
Should I be concerned about Malaria in Namibia?
Northern Namibia is a malaria area. Please consult your medical practitioner regarding any antimalarial pills and check with your health department/travel clinic several weeks before departure, as some courses of medication need to be begun in advance of your arrival.
What if I have to cancel my trip?

Our cancellation and refund policy is tiered based on the time in which you cancel your trip:

    • If the cancellation is made more than 60 days before arrival, we refund 80% of all payments received to date
    • If the cancellation is made up to 45 days before arrival, we refund 50% of all payments received to date.
    • If the cancellation is made less than 30 days before arrival, we cannot refund any payments received.

Please note: all cancellations must be made in writing to our team.
