It all started in 2001. A deep love for the African Wilderness and a passion for travel combined to create African Wanderer Tours & Safaris. For 23 years, we’ve guided adventurers like you on immersive, handcrafted journeys across Southern Africa. Having boots on the ground lets us offer practical advice and make informed decisions. We work with private clients directly and offer our B2B clients an efficient, trustworthy and professional partnership. A small, dedicated team work tirelessly to make your African travel dreams come true.
Our services include planning and bookings for Self-Drive Safaris, Private Guided Safaris, Small-group travel, Unique Honeymoons, and Family Travel in Namibia, Botswana and Victoria Falls.
Meet Hanneke
Director & Travel Designer
Introducing Hanneke, owner and travel designer at African Wanderer.
She is an adventurer fuelled by an unwavering passion for her home country of Namibia. Born and raised amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Namibia, Hanneke’s love for travel ignited at an early age, fostering a profound appreciation for the enchantment of African journeys.
After pursuing studies and working in marketing and film production in Cape Town, South Africa, for 13 years, Hanneke felt a magnetic pull back to her roots. In 2008, she returned to Namibia to start a family and reconnect with the land that had always held her heart.
In 2018, a pivotal moment arrived when her husband’s company, African Wanderer, needed a new leader. Encouraged by her innate curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit, Hanneke stepped forward to take on the challenge of small business ownership and embarking on an exciting new chapter of her life’s journey.
When Hanneke’s not engrossed in crafting captivating safari itineraries, you’ll find her experimenting in the kitchen (with mixed results) or bumping along gravel roads, searching for hidden gems and fantastic adventures. She shares her life with her two lively young boys, her devoted and dashing husband, and a goofy Irish Wolfhound named Bones.
